The Montgomerie

AGRONOMY REPORT

May 2009

The agronomy team has been extremely busy this month, preparing the playing surfaces for the onset of the warmer weather.
All the tees on the Championship course and on the Academy course have been cored and top dressed.
All greens have been needle tyned fortnightly and lightly top dressed weekly.
Our landscape crew has been exceptionally busy removing the dates from the palm trees to maintain course and clubhouse cleanliness and aesthetics. This along with extra trimming and hedging, and placement of river rock in high traffic areas.
The course is in great shape for this time of year and looks like we won’t suffer to badly from transition this year in comparison to previous years. This is mainly due to the weather warming up gradually rather than cool one day, hot the next.
Rough heights have been dropped down from 51 mm to 45mm this summer to help with playability.

Our present cutting heights are:

• Greens - 3mm
• Fairways - 9mm
• Tees - 8mm
• Roughs - 45mm

Thank you to all members and members’ guests who have taken the time to fill their divots and repair pitch marks on the greens. Your efforts are much appreciated.

This will be my last report as I have taken a Superintendents position in Hanoi, Vietnam. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members and their guests for their co-operation and affability and I will always have the feeling of contentment looking back on my time at The Montgomerie, Dubai.
