The Montgomerie

AGRONOMY REPORT

January 2010

Dear Members and Guests,

During the month of January we continued to improve the putting surfaces. We’ve pencil tined the greens allowing the water and air movement through the soil profile to prevent anaerobic conditions. We have begun to roll the greens three days per weeks to promote smooth putting surfaces and to firm-up the greens.

We are continuing to lower the heights on tees, fairways and collars to allow light to penetrate to the upper canopy allowing the bermudagrass beneath to capture sunlight and grow.  This will help aid our transition from ryegrass to bermudagrass as we enter the spring season and more favorable bermudagrass weather.

Please always remember to fix your own pitch mark and one other on each green of the championship course and the par 3 course. This is especially pertinent as growth and recovery has slowed in the winter months. With your help and our agronomy practices we will try to maintain the highest level of playing surfaces through the winter season.

Thank you for your continued support!
