READ NINETEEN'S REVIEW FROM DUBAI POSH NOSH, CHEAP EATS & STAR BARS 1ST EDITION
Nineteen
Brilliantly executed shot at fusion cuisine.
Still need convincing that golf is cool? Head to The Montgomerie, Dubai's flagship restaurant, Nineteen, where slick, pared-back modernism sends members only fustiness the way of wooden clubs.
Situated in a miniature White House, alongside Bunkers Bar (ouch) and 18 guest rooms (clever), the restaurant would be pitch black save for a pink back-lighted bar, 70s kitsch lampshades, and subtle lights that single out your table.
You half expect to spy Manhattan media types getting up to no good. In contrast, the show kitchen is loud, proud and slightly out of context. Choose from a perfectly balanced Thai-influenced menu and, like a pro perfecting his swing, see the food get better with each course. A light lemongrass risotto gives way to a densely flavoured blueberry cheesecake, while a delicate crab cake tees up a succulent lamb rack with cassolette beans.
During the day, eat lunch alfresco and enjoy that rarest of Dubai views - rolling greenery with nay a crane in sight. With only the distant whir of a golf buggy to remind you of fairway goings on, Nineteen stands on its own as one of Dubai's best new restaurant.
