HOLE 15 - DATES
The date palm provides the food, clothing and housing of the desert, the tree of life. Priests once practiced magic by waving the fronds in front of them as fertility rites. Since the tree is monoecious (single sex), this makes certain the fertilization of the flowers and thus the production of fruit is insured.
The large bunkers on the hole symbolize the desert and the view of number thirteen from landing area and green portrays the connection between date and oasis.
This is a short par four which is a birdie hole, a breather before the stirring finish to the golf course which will compare with any three finishing holes in the world of golf.
The principal pin position slopes from left to right, so that the drive is best placed on the right hand side of the fairway for the most accurate second shot.
This hole is much harder when the wind is in your face in the morning but can be driven in the late afternoon as it is late in the round.
